Well it seemed like a good idea at the time ...

Never mind that this fabric has cars on it, which might really seem to lend itself to children's clothing.

Never mind that I am going on 25.

Never mind that sometimes whimsical can turn into, "gee what were you thinking?"

I went ahead and did it anyways.

And now ... I'm seeing why all the above hesitations really ought to have set off a warning bell in my head. My apologies if you can't "see" this epiphany as well as I can - the lighting wasn't great that night. You can go here and click on "Lightnings Bugs" to get a better idea of the fabric, it's the third fabric from the left.

I do like the rick rack though. And I like that I put darts into the skirt. These didn't come off superbly but I do think it makes the skirt fit better [as much as I wish I could say I have a perfectly flat stomach ... let's be realistic here.] But the scale and theme of the fabric is all wrong and I can see that now. Well, I'll wear it as long as possible and then use the fabric and refashion it into something else. And since I seem to only ever think "skirt! bag!" when I see new fabric that I like, perhaps that's what it will next morph into ...

On the plus side, this photo gives the illusion that I actually have arm muscles!
