As with this outfit from way yonder past, and the second photo from the left here, I seem to like to pair complementary colors a lot. Pair them, and layer on shades of one or both. With neutrals. I think I like the visual tension created by the contrast.
[bringing that summer shirt into fall. love! haha, also, the day i wore the green skirt combo people at school kept asking if i was performing at the musical concert that night. me??? you couldn't PAY people to listen to me attempt anything remotely musical. my friend pointed out maybe it was because of what i was wearing ... though peeps, i dress like this every. single. day.]
Which is funny, because I'm pretty sure that when I was younger I tended to wear adjacent colors on the color wheel. ... Well ... when I was moderately younger, because when I was very young I was very much a child of the 80's, that all-colors-good, more-prints-better, layer up the craziness all around kind of look that perhaps set my aesthetic, or perhaps I loved because it was my aesthetic, one of those feedback loops we find so often in life, you know?
Anyways. This is also to say -- what the HECK is up with trying to bring back the 80's? Leggings and a [relatively] short tee? Oi, I already did that when I was 6, there's no need to rehash that look at 26. Then again, maybe I'm hypersensitive to this look because I've been spending a lot of time near the undergraduate campus, and those darlings weren't born yet when I was having my tender first experience with stirrups and the like. And also because this season has shown, once again, how the dominant fashion trends are not ones that work with my body type, yet another reason to stay out of the mass retailing shops and in the thrift shops instead ... or at my sewing machine ...

i like the dress on the left!
I love it. You dress colorfully so people think you're in tonight's production of "Sound of Music". LOL Well, I also like that dress in the left picture -- very flattering shape. I jumped on the skinny jeans and leggings bandwagons last year, but with leggings I need to wear something tunic-length or it's a no-go.
