First Snow

Woke up to snow this morning, our first snow of the year. It has been slanting past my window all morning, little white flurries that drift down out of the sky, sometimes fast sometimes slow, as though in mad chase for their friends who leapt from the sky just before them. And so I did my laundry, used the gym downstairs [my new goal is to get at least 20 minutes/day down there, on the nights I don't play soccer or do something else], then sat by my window with a mug of butternut squash soup and my bowl of beans and rice, quietly contemplating the steady downfall.

It was a beautiful way to start the day.
